　　When meeting someone for the first time it is customary to shake hands both for men and for women. Hugs are only exchanged between close friends. Kissing is not common and men never kiss other men.

　　Americans will usually introduce themselves by their first name and last name (such as “Hello I’m John Smith”) or if the setting is very casual by their first name only (“Hi I’m John”). The common response when someone is introduced to you is “Pleased to meet you.” Unless someone is introduced to you with their title and last name (such as Mister Smith or Miss Johnson) you should address them by their first name. Americans normally address everyone they meet in a social or business setting by their first name. However you should always address your college professors by their title and last name (such as Professor Jones) unless they ask you to do otherwise.

　　Americans sometimes fall into the trap of thinking that American values are universal ones. We can't always see that our values are actually typical American values. Instead, we assume the things Americans value are obviously what everyone should believe in.

　　But we should remember the saying: when you "assume," you make an "ass" out of "u" and "me." We only need to look at what happens when Americans go as advisors to developing countries to see how wrong our assumptions can be. Some Americans go thinking they're sharing pearls of wisdom with the backward natives about how to get things done right. They assume that stimulating competition and giving financial incentives for individual achievement will naturally change people's behavior and lead to success. When their projects barely get off the ground, they can't understand what went wrong. They mistakenly think that people must just be lazy or that they don't really want a higher standard of living.

　　So the advisors wind up getting discouraged and going home, grateful to be surrounded by hardworking Americans again.

　　In these situations, we should realize that American values may come from America's unique position as the land of opportunity. We are brought up with the American dream that everyone can work hard and get ahead. But we should realize that in countries with a different history and different opportunities, other values might be more important, like avoiding conflict or saving face.

Then you can say"Enjoy your meal"to each other and everybody start eating.For the starter,which you eat with the smaller pair,you keep the knife in your right hand and the fork in your left.After the starter you will get a bowl of soup—but only one boel of soup and never ask for a seconf serving.

　　The next dish is the main course.Many Westerners think the chicken breast with its tender white flesh is the best part of the bird. Some people can use their fingers when they eating chicken or other birds,but never touch beef or other meat in bones.It is polite to finish eating everthing on your plate,so don't take more food than you need.

　　At table ,you should try to speak quietly and smile a lot,but do not laugh all the time.

　　Most Westerners like soft drink if they will drive home.Many of them drink white or red wine with the food.When drinking to someone's health,you raise your glasses,but the glasses should not touch. The custom of toasting in some parts of China is to finish the drink at once,but Westerners usually take only a sip.For drinking during a dinner,the best advic is never to drink too much.

　　The primary, although not official, language of the United States is American English. According to the 20xx U.S. Census, more than 97% of Americans can speak English well, and for 81% it is the only language spoken at home. Nearly 30 million native speakers of Spanish also reside in the US. There are more than 300 languages besides English which can claim native speakers in the United States—some of which are spoken by the indigenous peoples (about 150 living languages) and others which were imported by immigrants. American Sign Language, used mainly by the deaf, is also native to the country. The two houses are not large, usually made of beautiful bricks, and the first floor has steps to connect the ground and houses, and the houses are numbered with metal. There was a small garden around the house, with lush trees and green grass, and some tables and chairs. There is a fence outside the garden, a password lock on the fence, someone with a key to the password can go in, so it's safe to live in it.

　　Car penetration in China is lower than in the u.s., where most Chinese residents take public transportation, and almost every home in the United States has a car. Why? That's because the United States was designed as a big car in the first place. Back in China, there are no seats left for the training courses, and the half way is still stuck on the high shelf, so it must get up early to be not late.
