　　He was bom in Beijing in 1894. His family was very poor. When he was four, his father died. He was supported by his uncle. At the age of eight, he began to learn Beijing Opera from Wu Lingxian. He studide very hard .At last he made great achievements.

　　Mei Lanfang visited America and some other countries. He made friends with Chaplin, the greatest and funniest actor.Mei Lanfang loved his country very much. During the period of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he refused to act for the Japanese invaders.

　　In the present words,science has been developing fast,but people still have a high opinion of artists.What can the arts tell us of the life that science cannot ? Arts is the making and expressions of what are beautiful and pleasure in human lives..People have paid no less attention to arts than they have paid to science since the beginning of human civilization.Why is arts so important ?

　　The main reason is that compared with natural sciences,arts (humanities and fine arts)serves rudder. First of all,arts plays a essential role in moulding magnificent qualities of people.A majority of works and writings not only expressed the impressive feelings in the world,which were sentimental and natural,but also gave us many ideas about love,faith and charity.In fact,these ideas have withstood the test of time.They represent the accumulated wisdom of our ancestors down through the ages.People,who equipped with these theories,can make sound judgements about any problems which may crop up.

　　Secondly,arts is the source of happiness in our lives.For instance,a classic light opera can give delight to millions of people.and moreover,some painting masterpieces are exactly a great satisfactions .

　　Especially, some excellent literature works enrich our lives and make us feel that we are part of the great family of mankind.Therefore,it is nothing but the arts that brings optimistic mental conditions to us.

　　In addition arts subjects are good for boosting children’s mental development.Recently,a American study shows that Mozart’s works can help children to improve their graphic cognition.Hence arts education is not only of benefit to moulding people’s quality,but also to discovering people’s potential. All in all ,the arts’ contribution to our lives can not be replaced by science although both arts and science push the boundaries of human cognition.

　　Creative artists should always be given the freedom to express their own ideas in whichever way they wish. There should be no government restrictions on what they do.

　　To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

　　I agree with the statement that there should be no government restriction on creative artists who express themselves in the way they do and that they must be given freedom for the same. Expression has always been the keynote in a persons life. It is the result of mere expression of our thoughts that we are able to communicate. Restrictions on how we present our thoughts is senseless.

　　Creative artists play a major role in our society, be it the government, old peolple, the youth or the children. Their works enlighten our minds, no matter if is sactual or entertainment based. It is diserving that after a days work when we want to take some time off for ourselves, we look out for some leisure. For instance: either pleasant music or a family movie which soothes the mind. Entertainment give us an overview of a new side of life which every individual respects. There is almost everything good in what is given to us through the media world which is made up of artists.

　　On the contrary sometimes these artists tend to be unscrupuous. They convert rumours into facts and present them before us. This might impair the reputation of some illustrious people in todays society. On such occasions, certain restrictions are understandable. Nevertheless we all do know what is right or wrong. Rules and regulations not always are the solution to how artists present their own ideas. Hence it is doltish to be impetuous and the government should enforce alternative ways to control the media.
