　　LIFE IS A CHOICE

　　In our daily lives, we have many choices to make, such as what to eat for supper,what clothes to wear, or what to do on weekends. At certain times in our

　　lives, we need to make even more critical choices, such as which school to attend, what job to take or who to choose as husband or wife. Yes, life is a matter of choice. Seemimgly, it means a choice of tangible things. But in essence, it means choosing a way of life. Life is to be lived, savored, and enjoyed, not to be wasted or complained about.

　　Hardly can we forget the time when our society faced the grave threat from the life-and-death disease--SARS. Yet, even during those dreadful times, some afflicted people remained optimistic. Instead of wearing neutral white masks, some people turned to colouful ones, and thus display a happy mood. And some creative people dubbed SARS to mean "SMILE AND REMAIN SMILING." I was deeply touched by their optimisim, nearly forgetting that we're still in a battle. people who survive these kinds of circumstances, (at some point)decide in their minds to carry on in spite of the overwhelming odds.

　　laid-off workers, typically regarded as the victims of economic advancement, are subject to desperation that being unmeployed has brought on them. But,

　　encouragingly, we have witnessed some of them striving hard to rebuild confidence toward life and discover new opportunities for demonstrating their values.

　　Although we cannot choose our appearance, inborn gifts and even avoid unexpected disasters and adversities, we do have the privilege to choose to live optimistcally,to love our lives, to have dreams, and to cherish hopes.

　　Every morning when we get up, we have a choice of how we want to approach life that day. As for me, I choose to be cheerful.

　　生活是一種選擇

　　日常生活中,我們會面臨各種各樣的選擇,像是晚餐吃什么,穿什么或是如何度周末.而在人生中的特定階段,我們需要做出更多關鍵性的抉擇,例如教育,職業或者人生伴侶.生活就意味著一種選擇.這種選擇看似是對具體事物的判斷,但歸根究底,是一種生活方式的選擇.任何無味的抱怨和虛度光陰只會帶來乏味,生活的美需要細心品嘗,用心體會.

　　如今回想起那段籠罩在SARS陰影下的日子依然心有余悸.但即便在那樣令人沮喪的日

　　子里,備受折磨的人們也始終保持著樂觀.為傳遞一種歡快的情緒,大家換上了色彩繽紛的口罩.而那些富有創造力的人則把SARS解釋為"笑口常開".他們對待生活的樂觀態度深深打動了我,幾乎讓我忘記我們還身處在沒有硝煙的戰場.其實,正是堅持不懈,堅忍不拔的精神引領人們走出了逆境.

　　被看做經濟發展犧牲品的.廣大下崗職工在面對生存壓力時,特別容易陷入絕望當中.但別人欣慰的是,我們看到越來越多的這個群體中的成員重建了對生活的信心,并重新立足于社會以實現自己的價值.

　　盡管容貌和天資都是上蒼給予,而人生旅途中的坎坷與荊棘我們也無法預計,那就讓我們熱愛生命,擁有夢想,珍惜希望吧.

　　每日清晨夢醒,我們都被賦予了選擇生活的權利.而我會讓一切從愉快開始.

　　I believe in our future

　　Honorable Judges, fellow students:

　　Good afternoon!

　　Recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. The college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at

　　extraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?

　　The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.

　　The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.

　　As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. I believe

　　in our future.

　　我對未來充滿信心

　　尊敬的評委，各位同學：

　　下午好！

　　最近，社會上有一場很激烈的爭論。大學生是一種稀有特權的享有者，在很棒的地方接受高等教育。但是，我們能面對挑戰而無所畏懼嗎？我們能夠改善他人的生活嗎？我們能夠承擔建設祖國未來的重任嗎？

　　懷疑論者說大學生是被寵壞的`一代，一丁點挫折都受不了。但是他們錯了，我所看到的大學生正在努力的學習獨立生活。我們互相幫助打掃衛生，一起上街砍價購物，一起參加兼職工作來賺零花錢。

　　懷疑論者說我們除了成績什么都不關心，從而忽略了性格的培養。但是，他們又錯了。我們彼此關心，我們向往自由，我們珍惜公正，我們追求真理。上個星期，很多我的同學去驗血，為了給患血癌的孩子貢獻自己的力量。

　　作為大學生，我們是處在人生分水嶺的青年。我們都面臨一個重要的選擇：懷疑人生還是相信自己，每一種都會給我們的人生帶來重大的影響，甚至影響我們祖國的未來。我相信我們的同學們，雖然我們依然缺乏經驗，甚至有些志氣，但是我相信我們有勇氣和自信來面對生活的挑戰并承擔我們的責任。我們正努力準備接受新的任務，用我們所學習的知識將世界變得更美好。我對我們的未來充滿信心。
