　　I heard that Lijiang was a very beautiful city when I was young. I travelled there in a holidy with my parents.I went there by plane. I saw there were many moutains when I got out the plane. The air was fresh.We went to the Lijiang Gucheng the fist day, and we bought some interesting things and had a good meal in the Lijiang Gucheng. On the second day ,we went to the Yulong snowy moutain, it was beautiful, and it was my first time I had seen the snow. I played with the snow happily. My father told me that Yulong snow moutain was a famous place in China, many people came here every year. I was happy throughout this trip, because it was even better to beijing!

　　Lijiang city is among rivers and mountains. northeast are Mt Elephant，Mt Golden Rainbow，and in the northwest is Mt Lion，and the city links them up .The mountains enclose the Lijiang valley in which stands the Lijiang city. The city was named Dayan，because it shapes like an ink stone，and“yan" has the same pronunciation of and can mean“ink stone”in Chinese. The valley surrounds the ancient city with the verdure of crops and vegetation in solemn silence;its villages scattered all about are ;its lakes are clear and deep peaceful，quiet，and at ease.Near around the city are over a dozen tourist resorts of the region，the province,or the state,among which Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Jinsha River are the most glorious.

　　麗江古城坐擁于群山和河流之中群山是指東北邊的象山、金虹山和西北邊的獅子山，古城就處在這三座山的結合部。群山圍著麗江壩子，麗江壩子又圍著古城。古城原名大研，是因整個陰江壩子形似一塊大硯，“硯”寸“研”相通、古城四周的麗江壩子有綠海金浪的莊稼以及牧歌清芬的草坪，有明凈幽秘的'湖水，更有無數淡泊寧靜的村莊。緊鄰古城周圍，就有家級、省級、地區級的旅游景點十多個。其中最為有名的是玉龍雪山和金沙江。

　　Classical Naxi music is described as the“living musical fossil" because of its long history. More surprisingly，the Dongba script is the worlds only living hieroglyphics still in use. More than 20 000 volumes of ancient books in Dongba writing，rare and valuable documents，are now collected by libraries in China as well as some European and American countries.

　　Lijiang, an ancient town of Yunnan Province, is one of the most famous tourist destinations. Its pace of life is slower than that of most cities of China. There are many natural beauties everywhere in Lijiang and many ethnical minorities provide tourists with a great variety of cultural experience. Lijiang is also well-known as the "city of love" in history. Many stories about life and dying for love have spreaded widely among the locals. Nowadays, for tourists home and abroad, the ancient town is regarded as a paradise of love and romance.

　　The old town of Lijiang has a history of more than 800 years and was once a confluence for trade along the old tea horse road.It is famous for its orderly system of waterways and bridges.The old town of Lijiang differs from other ancient Chinese cities in architecture, history and the culture tradition of its local residents-the Naxi people.The town is built along mountains and rivers, providing us a very precious sample of the research on the old-time architecture. The uniquegeographical location, historical background and multiracial inhabitants make it one of the most special old towns.

　　麗江古城有800多年的歷史，曾經是茶馬古道(the old tea horse road)上的一個貿易集結點(confluence)。麗江因其有序的水道和橋梁系統而聞名。麗江古城在建筑、歷史及其原住民納西族(the Naxi people)的文化傳統方面不同于中國其他古城。古城沿山脈和河流而建，為我們提供了一個研究古代建筑的.非常珍貴的樣本。獨特的地理位置、歷史背景以及多民族的居民，都使麗江成為最特別的古城之一。

　　At the foot of Yulong(Jade Dragon)Snow Mountain in northwesternYunnan Province is the ancient town of Lijiang. In the remote past.itwas already inhabited with tribal people. In i 253 , Kublai Khan，the Mongol chief，stationed his troops here on his southward march to conquer the State of Dali. For the next 500 years，to the early days of the Qing Dynasty、the place was ruled by a herditary succession of chieftains from the Mu clan of the Naxi people、under the jurisdiction of the imperial court.

　　在云南省西北部的玉龍雪上教學坐落著人間仙境般的麗江古城。這里在遠古時期就有部落居民居住生活。1253年，蒙古族頭領忽必烈在講軍南方占領大理州的路上曾讓他的隊伍駐扎于此。在隨后的500年里，直到清朝初期，這個地方都山納西族氏族酋長世襲統治，統屬朝廷管轄。

　　Lijiang is a mystical and beautiful town on the center of Lijiang valley，2 410 meters above sea level，with about 25 000 residents on an area of 3 .8 square kilometers. It is the gateway to northwest Yunnan region。and No. 214 National Road runs through the city to Tibet in the north or to Dali City in the south , capital of the autonomous prefecture.

　　麗江古城位于麗江壩子中央，海拔2410米，面積3.8萬平方公里，人口約2.5萬。這里是滇西北的重要門戶，如今，214國道貫穿麗江全市，北可達西藏，南可至大理，交通十分便利。

　　The inhabitants of Lijiang are mainly of Naxi minority .and the city is the only autonomous city of the nationality. It has long been known world wide for its grandiose snow clad mountain，the steep gorge，the elegant Mt. Laojun，the clean Lugu Lake，and the colorful and various customs of the minorities. The outside world is surprised by its ancient and simple sense of‘identity of Heaven and Man" and its protound and excenent cunure，amazed by the ancestors of the minorities who built a city without a wall on the beautiful land of Lijiang at this southwest frontier. In December of 1997，World Heritage Committee registered it on World Heritage List，and this“city forgotten gods" was since unveiled to the world with its oriental mystery and charm like pearl hidden among the mountains

　　古城里聚居的居民以納西族同胞為主，是我國唯一的納西族自治區。麗江從來就以它巍峨壯麗的大當山、雄奇險峻的人峽補、靈秀峻美的老君山、碧波蕩漾的瀘沽湖和多姿多彩的`少數民族風情而聞名于世。人們驚訝于這里“天人合一”的古樸意識及其博大精深的文化內涵，贊嘆西南邊陲的少數民族先人們，在麗江這片奇麗的土地上筑起了一座沒有城墻的古城。1997年12月，聯合國教科文組織將麗江古城列入《世界遺產名錄》。從此，這個”被神仙遺忘在人間的城郭“，猶如一處藏于大山之中的寶藏唄發掘出來，向世人展示東方文明的神秘和魅力。
