Step I. Greeting

Greet the whole class as usual

Step II. Revision

T: Yesterday we learnt a woman' s diary. about her travel. Now please answer two questions according to the text: Why do many people move to the forest? Any volunteers?

S: Because there is not enough land by the sea, the population is growing every minute. They can' t find work in the capital.

T: Yes, What do the people living in the forest do?

S: They burn their trees, grow crops for cow and sell the beef to the capital.

Step III. Preparation for reading and reading

T: Very good. Today we' re going to read more about the forest. Here is a simple question: What ' s happening to the farmers and the forest after 2 or 3 years? Please open your books at Page 15. Read the passage quickly and find out the answer to the question. After a while, I'll check the answer.

(Teacher gives the students two or three minutes to read the passage.)

T: Are you finished?

S: Yes, After 2 or 3 years soil is destroys. Forest becomes sand. Farmers have to move to a new place.

T: Very good. Next please read the text again and answer some detailed questions on the screen.

(Teacher shows the questions on the screen. After three minutes, teacher checks the answers.)

read the text by yourself for a while,

(Teacher further checks the students ' reading comprehension and shows some sentences on the screen. Let the students put the numbers in the correct order.)

T: OK. Now look at the sentences on the screen. Read them carefully and give the correct order.

Step VI: Language Study.

T: We all know the Present Indefinite is used for things that happen regularly or repeatedly. Next you make correct questions and give the correct answers with the phrases given according to the text learnt. If you have any questions, you may ask me or have a discussion in pairs. After a while. I'll check them.

We usually spend the night near a village.

2. How do you get food?

Our guide buys it from the villages and we cook it ourselves.

3. What kind of food do you usually eat?

We usually eat fish.

We cook it ourselves.

5. Do you swim in the river? Why not?

No. Because there are dangerous fish in the river. The fish had very sharp teeth. They can eat a person in two minutes, leaving only the bones.

6. What is happening in the forest?

The farmers are burning it /

7. Why do people move into the forest?

Because there is not enough land by the sea.

Also many people can' t find work in the capital.

8. What do they do to the trees? Why?

They burn the trees. They plant crops for their cows.

They sell their beef to the capital.

They destroy the soil. They destroy it by burning.

11. Do the farmers stay in the same place? Why not?

No, because they can only grow crops in the forest for one or two years.

The soil is very thin.

Today we've learnt that the forestland will become sand if people destroy the forest. I hope all of us must protect the forests. Also we've learnt some important phrases. such as, every two or three years, --- nothing but ---. After class, you must read the text more and remember their usages.
