When we mentioned Zhangjiakou, my hometown, we were likely to think of Zhan Tianyou who was a Chinese famous railway engineer. He established the first self-build railway in China that was called Bejing-Zhang Jiakou Railway even women and children all know. The achievement of the railway added a brilliant page in the history of the Chinese industrial construction.
Virtually, Zhang Jiakou which was divided into six districts and twelve counties is a medium-size city located in the northwest of Hebei Province. So, the temperature in winter is freezing cold. Its temperature which is richly endowed by nature makes it possible to conduct a series of ice activities. Thus, the 20xx Winter Olympic Games will be held in Beijing, also in my hometown which was greeted with” City of Ice and Snow". Besides, the position that borders with Inner Mongolia makes it have quite a few prairies. Riding horses is what we are used to doing.
For the majority of Chinese, their cognition of the cuisine of China northwest is just limited to Peking Duck and Roast lamb which have already been famous throughout the country. But honestly speaking, as an authentic native, I prefer oat noodle Honeycomb which we call it “Youmianwowo”. It comes from a kind of grain that originally grows in the north of North China Plain. When I come across this special dish in the restaurant, I always think of my grandma. She always makes this dish all by hand. She firstly rubs dough into slices. After that, she shapes them around the index finger, and then finally makes them stand up in the food steamer. It always reminded me of my homesick, especially when this dish was served with a rich, hearty mutton soup.
Zhang Jiakou, also known for a battle among ancestors of Chinese nation named Yan Emperor, Yellow Emperor and Chi You in Zhuolu, a county filled with the early Chinese civilization. In addition, one of the nine defensive cities along the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty was in Xuan Hua, Zhang Jiakou. So, it was named by "Great Wall Museum" as well, for it has the largest number of the Great Wall that is still existing. Therefore, Zhang Jiakou is a historic city that was the source of Chinese Nation. And in recent time, due to the special military geographical location, my hometown is the native place of many famous people, especially some heroes who were devoted to the Anti-Japanese War. Dong Cunrui was one of the heroes who applied himself to the liberation of our Chinese nation. All these impressive deeds remind our locals to learn their valuable spirit and their struggle for our peaceful life. But now, Jing-Jin-Ji Regional Cooperation has caught lots of talented characters and brought my hometown a great concept of development, and Im sure that Zhang Jiakou will give us a new image with the significant culture and advanced technology, also the spirit of persist.

I am Chinese. I am proud of being a Chinese with five thousand years of civilization behind. I've learned about the four great inventions made by our forefathers. I've learned about the Great Wall and the Yangtze River. I've learned about Zhang Heng(張衡)and I've learned about Zheng He(鄭和).Who says the Yellow River Civilization has vanished(消失)?I know that my ancestors have made miracles(奇跡)on this fertile land and we're still making miracles. Who can ignore the fact that we have established ourselves as a great state in the world, that we have devised our own nuclear weapons, that we have successfully sent our satellites into space, and that our GNP ranks No. 7 in the world? We have experienced the plunders (掠奪) by other nations, and we have experienced the war. Yet, based on such ruins, there still stands our nation----China, unyielding and unconquerable!
I once came across an American tourist. She said, “China has a history of five thousand years, but the US only has a history of 200 years. Five thousand years ago, China took the lead in the world, and now it is the US that is leading.” My heart was deeply touched by these words. It is true that we're still a developing nation, but it doesn't mean that we can despise (鄙視) ourselves. We have such a long-standing history, we have such abundant resources, we have such intelligent and diligent people, and we have enough to be proud of. We have reasons to say proudly： we are sure to take the lead in the world in the future again, for our problems are big, but our ambition (雄心) is even bigger, our challenges (挑戰) are great, but our will is even greater.

firstly, lhasa has a long history. it is the political, cultural and economic center of tibet. it has lots of famous sights to offer. the potala palace is the most famous, a magnificent and wonderful place to look at. in my opinion it is a unique artistic achievement of the tibetan people. likewise, the architecture, carvings and paintings throughout the city show hard work, wisdom and bravery of our people.
secondly, led by the reforming and opening policy of china, lhasa has changed a lot. many new things have arrived up here, changing the face of the city. the old and new lie side by side in lhasa.
many new buildings, schools and roads have been built here.

We all know that autumn is a harvest season; it brings us achievements and celebrations.But this year is quite different.We are welcoming the 60th birthday of our nation!
What proves the growth of our country?What proves that our country is becoming stronger and stronger?Of course,the changes,the avhievements.Now we can touch the pulse of the social progress,the changes of clothing,food,the living conditions and so on.
Once my grandma said that in the planned economy,everything has its own certificate,“New Dress” is only a desire and many children could only expect new clothes on Chinese New Year.When my grandmother put on new clothes on New Year’s Day,she would be quite satisfied and proud,because many children would come to appreciate it.At that time,new clothes are rare for common people.
Sixty years ago,it’s quite usual that a big family crowded in a small room.They put up a curtain separating the house into two parts,and sometimes there might be some mice.My grandma said they played only seated in bed and several children did their homework on a small table.But now,good conditions,most families not only have a nice house with a lot of furniture,but also have more than one house.

In the past, it was poor. People who once came here did not want to come again ，why？The streets were full of rubbishes and the buildings were old and small，when there were strong winds the buildings were shaking as if they wanted to say “Hello”to you.
But today，with the lead of our government, many changes have taken place，life is much better than before。
