　　Step 4定語從句

　　在復合句中修飾名詞或代詞的從句叫做定語從句。被定語從句修飾的名詞或代詞叫先行詞。定語從句必須放在先行詞之后。引導從句的關系代詞有wh(人-主格), wh(人-賓客), whse(人-所有格), which(物), that(人/物)。引導從句的'關系副詞有where(地點), when(時間), wh(原因)。

　　從句的謂語動詞和先行詞的關系。

　　a.主謂關系?

　　He ased the an (作從句主語) wh/that was sing.

　　b. 動賓關系?

　　which 引導的定語從句

　　which 引導的定語從句修飾的是無生命物體, which 在從句中可以作主語, 也可以作賓語。

　　只能用which的情況:?

　　a. 關系代詞前有介詞。

　　This is the huse in which we lived last ear.

　　b. 先行詞本身是that。

　　The clc is that which I bught esterda.

　　c. 非限制性定語從句。

　　His English, which used t be ver pr, is nw excellent.

　　wh引導的定語從句

　　如果先行詞指人 那么定語從句的引導詞就可以用wh。如果先行詞指人, 引導詞在從句中充當賓語, 那么引導詞就要用wh的賓格形式wh, 口語中也可以用wh代替。

　　定語從句中引導詞的省略

　　不管定語從句修飾的是人還是物, 如果引導詞在從句中作賓語, 通常就可以省略。

　　e.g. Did u g t the tal (that/ which) the faus scientist gave at ur schl?

　　你去聽那位著名科學家在你們學校做的演講了嗎？

　　Is that the car (that/which) u bught last nth?

　　那是你上個月買的車嗎？

　　A friend is a persn (wh/wh) u nw ver well and lie.

　　朋友是你十分了解并且喜歡的人。

　　引導詞作賓語時可以省略是因為省略后的從句仍然有主語和謂語, 我們仍然可以分辨出哪部分是定語從句。但是, 引導詞在從句中作主語時就不能省略, 否則會造成結構混亂。

　　e.g. I’d lie t have a teacher wh is gd at speaing.

　　我想擁有一位擅長演講的老師。

　　He can ae lessns that are usuall bring interesting.

　　他能把枯燥乏味的課講得生動有趣。

　　以上兩句中的引導詞 wh 和 that 在從句中作主語, 不能省略。此外, 需要注意的是, 雖然在定語從句中作賓語的引導詞在口語中往往被省略, 但在正式文體中則常常被保留。
