　　Due to its nature of metro, state, and national interscholastic competition, the successful high school forensics student serves by not only representing his or her school but also by representing his or her community as well. One of the requirements in my advanced class is to prepare lectures and guidance for the beginners. With Kaya’ s superior knowledge and involvement in the political sciences, she developed a strong sense of confidence with a charming attitude. Therefore, I could always depend on her to set the best example as an instructor. Because of her natural leadership abilities, Kaya was selected as our Debate Captain. On account of her mature approach to her responsibilities, I often thought of Kaya as a colleague.

　　國外讀研分“四步”走

　　從“有想法”到“開始上課”需要經歷哪些步驟呢？下面以美國為例為大家做了一個詳細規劃。

　　一、制訂目標

　　如果有赴美讀研的打算，大二、大三就要盡早開始考慮，并著手準備。

　　要點:可以初步為自己制訂一個目標學校，并在本科期間學好各門功課，使自己盡量取得高一些的GPA，可以開始著手準備GRE考試。

　　二、確定考試時間

　　美國入學時間分為春季和秋季，其中秋季是主要入學時機，春季入學是秋季入學的補充，申請的人少并且基本沒有獎學金。由于GRE一年只能考兩次，而托福每個月都有機會考，在確定考試時間時，應先確定GRE的考試時間，然后在GRE前后2至4個月內選擇托福的考試時間。

　　要點:建議考生先考GRE再考托福，這就如同爬山一樣，先爬大山再爬小山，就會感覺難度小很多。GRE基本涵蓋了所有的托福詞匯，考完GRE后，考生只需要再加強一下聽力和口語就可以輕松應付托福了。另外，GRE的有效期5年，而TOEFL只有2年，很多名校都要求學生提供一個盡量新的托福成績，比如是一年以內的。所以考生可以在考GRE后再來規劃考托福的時間，GRE則可以盡量早考。

　　三、準備申請材料

　　10月份，考生參加完GRE和托福的考試后，就應著手準備各方面的申請材料。首先需要去學校開具一份本科期間的成績單。另外，需要重點準備一下個人陳述和推薦信。

　　要點:申請學校時最重要的是將自己描述成最合適的學生，而不是一味將自己夸成各方面都優秀的人才。美國大學更關心的是你能給這所學校的這個專業帶來什么，所以，在申請的時候多強調自己對這個專業的興趣、已經取得的'專業成就和心得體會比較能打動美國教授。申請材料中主要包括GRE、托福成績、個人陳述、推薦信、GPA(本科成績)等幾項，其實任何一項上的突出特點都有可能吸引美國人目光。比如找到一些有分量的教授來寫推薦信，在GPA中突出自己的專業課成績等。對于能力較強的學生來說，準備一份漂亮的材料并非難事。如果考生覺得有困難，也可以找留學中介來幫忙潤色。

　　四、遞交申請

　　GRE和托福成績一般考后一個多月就可接收成績單。準備好材料、拿到GRE和托福成績后，就可以向有意向的多所美國高校投遞申請材料。這個步驟要在元旦前完成，以保證學校可以在來年1月份前接收到你的申請。

　　剩下的工作就是耐心等待了，這期間應密切關注學校的動態，與學校保持聯系。
