一、Words and Expressions

1. agree vi. 同意，答應

我要他幫我的忙，他答應了。　I asked him to help me, and he agreed.

(1) agree with (sb. ,one’s idea, one’s opinion, what one said…)　

同意…; 贊成…；與…一致；（天氣、食物、氣候等）適合某人

①我很同意你所說的話。　 I quite agree with what you said.

②他言行不一致。　　　　His words don’t agree with his action.

③她不適應這里的氣候。 The weather here ___________________ .

④那種事物我不適應。 　That kind of food ___________________ .

(2) agree to (the plan, the proposal, the agreement, the suggestion…) 同意、贊成（計劃、提議、協議、建議等）

eg. 你同意這個提議嗎？　Do you agree to the proposal?

(3) agree on 對…取得一致意見，協商（主語通常是復數）

eg. 他們最后就工作計劃取得了一致意見。

Finally they agreed on the plan of work.

(4) agree (not) to do sth

eg. 這些學生同意在教室里不使用電話。　　　

These students agreed not to use cellphones in the classroom.

(5) agree that

eg. 他承認安是獲勝者。　He agreed that Ann was the winner.

(6) disagree vi. ( disagreed; disagreed; disagreeing )

不同意；不一致,不符

①Our answers to the problem disagreed.

②We disagreed on which movie to see.

(7)agreement n. come to / arrive at / reach an agreement 達成協議

be in agreement with 同意 ; 與……意見一致

3. add v.

1) 添加，增加，補充

① I should like to add that we are pleased with the result.

2) add…to…把…加到…上

3) add to = to increase something

4. remind v.

remind sb to do sth.

of sth.

5. touch n.

get in touch with sb. 與…取得聯系

keep in touch with / be in touch with / stay in touch with 與…保持聯系

lose touch with sb. / be out of touch with 與…失去聯系

6. call v.

call for = to demand sth. , to collect sb. 要求 , 需求 ，邀約

call at some place = visit some place拜訪某地

call on sb. = to visit sb., to ask sb. to do sth. 拜訪（某人），號召

call in = to ask sb. to come in . 請來 ( 專業人員 doctor,engineer…)

call back 回電話　　call up 打電話，回響起

in case以防，以備萬一。（后接條件狀語從句，或作副詞單獨使用。）

in case of + n./pron 假如 ； 如果發生 in any case無論如何

in this/that case假如這樣／那樣的話

in no case = never決不，在任何情況下都不（位于句首要倒裝）

1) in particular 特別,尤其,

11. take over 接受，接管

二 . Language points

1. If you turn a left-hand glove inside out it will fit on a right hand. 如果你把左手套翻過來，

它會很合適地戴在右手上．

(1) turn…inside out 翻出 　turn one’s pocket inside out 把口袋翻出來

(2) fit vt.& vi. (fitted,　fitted)

1)（服裝等）合身

①這件大衣我穿不合身。　　 The coat doesn’t _____ me.

②這條裙子我穿非常合身。　 The dress _____ me very much.

2) 使合適，使符合 言行一致 fit one’s actions to one’s words

(3) be fit for適合 , 勝任

可用于這種句型的有 think, consider, feel, find.

①喬治明確表示他不同意。 George made it clear that he didn’t agree.

②I think it necessary for her to stay in touch with her parents.

③Our school makes it a rule for us to have an English Corner every Friday.

④Your laziness makes it possible for you to fall behind them.

⑤He found it possible for them to improve the working conditions.

more than 不只是

②姚明不僅僅人高馬大。 Yaoming has more than just size.

③有些故事實在難以令人相信。 Some of the stories were really more than could be believed.

more than連用表示“不只是”，后接名詞、數詞、分詞、動詞等；而more…than…用在同一主語身上，是對兩種性質進行比較，“與其…不如說…”這一句型中，形容詞只能用more+原級，不能用比較級。

①與其說他傻，不如說他瘋了。 He is more mad than stupid.

②這孩子的傷倒算不了什么，只是受驚了。 The boy was more frightened than hurt.

6. We have a need to stay in touch with friends no matter where we are or what we are doing.

(2) no matter

“no matter+特殊疑問詞”構成連詞詞組，引導讓步狀語從句。表示“無論…，不管…”

no matter what=whatever 無論什么

無論你說什么，沒有人相信你。No matter what you say, no one believes you.

no matter when=whenever　無論何時

無論你何時去，你都能見到她。No matter when you go, you can see her.

no matter who=whoever　 無論誰

無論誰叫都別開門。No matter who tells you to,　don’t open the door.

no matter how=however　 無論如何，不管怎樣

不管我怎樣努力都趕不上你。

I’m still behind you no matter how hard I have tried to catch you up.

no matter where=whevere　無論在（到）哪里

無論我走到哪里，我總會想起我的學生們的。

I’ll remember my students no matter where I go.

注：前者只能引導讓步狀語從句，而后者還可以引導主語從句或賓語從句。

eg. ① She says that her cellphone helps her do whatever she wants to do.

　 ② Whatever he said was right. 他所說的都是正確的。

(1) make sb. + adj.

make sb. + n.　

All work and no play make Jack a dull boy. 只工作不玩耍，聰明孩子也變傻。

make sb.+ v. 　

媽媽讓我在家做家作。

Mum made me _____________ ( 做作業) at home.

make sb. + done He made himself understood at last. 他終于讓大家理解他了。

8. come up with = to think of or suggest an idea

想出辦法，提出建議

①She came up with a new idea for increasing sales. 她想到一個增加銷售量的新主意。

②I don’t know why he came up with such silly questions. 我不知他為么會想出這么笨的問題。
