1. rid n. vt. rid ，rid, ridding（與of 連用）使擺脫, 使去掉
讀一讀下列句子:
1) She wanted to be rid of her parents and their authority.她想擺脫父母及其權威的束縛
2) He wanted to rid himself of the burden of the secret.他想把秘密說去來，讓自己解脫。
3) Try and get rid of your visitors before I get there 在我到達之前，想辦法把你的客人趕走。

3. substitute verb. substitution n. 代替,取代
n. substitute( for sb /sth) 代替者；代替物；代用品 ,替補（隊員）
verb.substitute (A for B)/ substitute B (with /by A)/ substitute for sb /sth用…代替,取代

4. convey verb.

5. oppose v. 有“反對；對抗；反抗”、“以……對抗”、“使對立/對照”等含義。
仔細觀察下列例句：
We’ll oppose force with force. 我們反對以暴力對抗暴力。
We oppose copying everything foreign. 我們反對樣樣照抄外國的。
He had been violently opposed to this plan at first.起初他強烈反對這項計劃。
I expressed opposition to that plan.
The soldier opposed his arm to the blow of the enemy soldier.那士兵用手臂擋住敵兵的打擊。

oppose 為常用詞, 指“對某人、某事采取積極行動來反對”, 著重動作,尤指“反對一種觀念、思想、計劃等”
object 常指“用言論或論據等表示反對”, 著重“個人嫌厭”和“(由于與個人有關因此)提出反對意見”
resist 指“積極地反抗、對抗”、“用武力阻止...的前進”, resist the enemy抵抗敵人resist temptation抵制誘惑。

歸納總結：take place 表示“發生、舉行、舉辦” 之意，其它短語都有代替，接替；之意; take one’s place 還有 就坐，之意。
2. take place , happen, occur, come about和break out用法區別

considerable adj. great in amount, size ,importance 相當多（或大，重要等）
