任務一：短劇表演
活動時間：在學完本單元之后
活動形式：個人活動、兩人小組活動、小組活動、全班活動
語言知識要求：本單元詞匯與句型
語言技能要求：聽、說、讀、寫
活動目的：以演感悟、以演促學
活動過程：
1．分配角色：把全班分成幾個演出小組。每個小組由九人組成，分別擔任導演、Rachel Verinder， Godfrey，Franklin Blake，Dr Candy，Sergeant Cuff， the Indians以及旁白等角色。導演負責總體規劃，包括舞臺設計、服裝設計、排練等等。教師任顧問，對學生的語言、表情、動作要加以指導。
2．撰寫劇本：由導演分配撰寫劇本各部分任務，將小說改寫成劇本。教師要指導學生寫好劇本，要注意劇本所包含的要素等。
3．交流信息：檢查各項工作落實情況，個人結合自己的角色，互相取長補短。
4．熟悉臺詞：各演員背誦自己的臺詞，體會角色的個性與心理，通過語言與動作表現人物的個性特征。演員熟悉臺詞、進行彩排。
5．道具準備：所準備的道具及服裝要力求輕便、簡易、逼真。
6．潤色加工：就彩排的情況交流心得，逐步完善。
7．拍攝劇照：教師盡可能拍攝某個場面中的精彩片斷，以便師生共同分享喜悅。
8．比賽演出：由老師和各組組長組成評委會，各組均登臺演出，評委評分。
任務二：閱讀偵探小說檔案
活動時間：在學完本單元之后
活動形式：個人活動、結對活動、小組活動、全班活動
語言知識要求：本單元詞匯與句型
語言技能要求：聽、說、讀、寫
活動目的：培養學生課外閱讀習慣
活動過程：
1．組織學生進行課外閱讀，培養學生良好的課外閱讀習慣。
2．教師可幫助學生制定課外閱讀計劃等，并有步驟地分階段實施。
3．教師可以向學生推薦一些推理性小說供學生參考，例如：《福爾摩斯探案集》(The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes)，《三十九級臺階》(The Thirty-nine Steps)，《鋼城》(The Caves of Steel)，《布朗神父探案集》(Father Brown Stories)等。
4．建議學生做好讀書筆記，填入下列表格中。
5．有可能的話，進行講故事比賽。

(二)熱身(Warming up)
創設情景，激趣導入
Everyone loves a good mystery story．Many people have read stories about Sherlock Holmes by Conan Doyle．Today we are going to read a story by another famous detective story writer Wilkie Collins．
1．Look at the title of this unit and try to guess what the text is about．
2．Do you know any detective stories?
3．What is most interesting about this mystery?
4．Do you like reading detective stories?
5．Wh0 is your favourite detective writer?
(三)聽力(Listening)
1．利用插圖，構建對話平臺
在聽前，教師須要求學生認真看圖，構建師生對話的平臺。例如：

T：What is Rachel Verinder thinking about?

2．培養問題意識，組織學生討論
組織學生進行小組活動，針對圖畫展開想象，
提出更多的問題，激發思維。

4．改寫對話，培養學生的語言運用能力
要求學生把對話轉述成一段敘述，培養學生的語言轉換能力及概括能力。
學生可用如下開頭：This is a picture of a birth． day party for a young woman called Rachel Verinder． There sits Miss Rachel at the table with a beautiful
diamond on her dress．．．
(四)口語(Speaking)
教師要鼓勵學生在收集信息、處理信息和表達交流的過程中探索學習。要將自己置身于真實的環境中，將表演與真實情感有機地結合在一起。這樣，有利于寓教于樂，激發學生的興趣。
除課文的相關情景外，我們還可要求學生描繪當時的情形，如喧鬧的聲音等。例如，學生可能會使用如下的語句：
“The diamond is gone! Gone! Nobody knows how!”
“I myself saw Miss Rachel put the Diamond into the drawer last night!”
“We must call for the police!”
(五)讀前(Pre-reading)
1．超前學習，體驗探究
在學習《月亮寶石》時，有可能的話，鼓勵學生自主提前學習這本書。學生可以上網下載或到圖書館借閱小說The Moonstone，這樣可以培養學生自主學習的能力。
2．共同欣賞，集體解疑
教師要鼓勵學生在閱讀過程中相互學習，通過課外閱讀，使學生加深對文學的感受、理解、欣賞，共同解決閱讀中存在的問題，提高思維能力；在討論中，學會欣賞他人的優點，讓學生通過合作體會成功的喜悅。
(六)閱讀(Reading)
1．巧妙設疑，激發思維
教師可設計如下問題：

What do you think is the most interesting part in the reading?
2．克服困難，猜測詞義
Write a definition，synonym，or description of the underlined words.
