1. It is a very crowded city in the south of China .它是中國南部的一個非常擁擠的城市。

crowded是形容詞，意為“人多的；擁擠的”。如：crowded buses 擁擠的公共汽車

crowded roads繁忙的馬路

crowd作名詞，意為“人群”。如：He pushed his way through the crowd.他在人群中往前擠。

crowd作動詞，意為“聚集；擠”。

如：The students crowded round the teacher to ask questions.學(xué)生們圍著老師問問題。

2. Over 6 million people live in Hong Kong.六百多萬人住在香港。

（1）over 意為“超過”，相當(dāng)于more than。

（2） live 意為“居住；住”，是不及物動詞。live in 意為“住在……”

如：--Where do you live?你住在哪兒？--I live in London.我住在倫敦。

（3）6 million 6百萬 millions of成百萬的

3. We call people from the Philippines, Filipinos.我們把來自于菲律賓的人稱作菲律賓人。

Filipino表示“菲律賓人”，其復(fù)數(shù)形式直接加“s”

b. Frenchman, Englishman變man為men。

c. German要直接加“s”。

d. Chinese, Japanese, British, Thai則單復(fù)相同。

（1）luck n. （不可數(shù)）Good luck to you !祝你好運！

lucky adj. I’m lucky to find my lost watch.我很幸運找到丟失的手表。

luckily adv. Luckily we caught the train.很幸運，我們趕上了火車。

（2）nowadays adv.意為“時下；現(xiàn)在”，在此句中作people的后置定語。

如：Nowadays, children often prefer watching TV to reading.如今，兒童常愛看電視而不愛看書。

visit 用作及物動詞，意為“參觀，訪問，游歷”，后面可接人或物作賓語

如：She often visits her friends.她經(jīng)常去拜訪她的朋友。

I am going to visit Beijing.我打算去北京參觀。

visit用作不及物動詞，意為“參觀，訪問，逗留”。

如：They are visiting in Shanghai.他們正在上海訪問。

Visit用作名詞，意為“參觀，訪問，瀏覽，逗留”。

如：He is on a visit to England他正在訪問英國。

6. It’s far away from here.

如：Beijing is far away from Guangzhou.北京離廣州很遠(yuǎn)。

7. Would you like to write to someone in another country?你想給另一個國家的某人寫信嗎？

“Would you like…”句中的like后面常接名詞、代詞和動詞不定式，表示“你想要……嗎？”，與“Do you want…？”意思相近，但前者語氣比后者委婉，用來禮貌地提出請求、征求對方意見或委婉地提出建議。主要用法有：

a. Would you like sth.?如：Would you like some oranges?

（=Do you want some oranges?）你想吃些桔子嗎？

b. Would you like to do sth.? 如：Would you like to drink a cup of tea?

（=Do you want to drink a cup of tea ?）你想喝杯茶嗎？

c. Would you like sb.to do sth.?如：Would you like me to meet your family?

（=Do you want me to meet your family?）你想要我見一見你的家人嗎？

“Would you like…?”中l(wèi)ike后不可接動詞-ing形式，而“Do you like…？”中l(wèi)ike后卻可以。如：Do you like swimming?你喜歡游泳嗎？

[注意]對于“Would you like…？”提出的建議或要求，肯定回答常用“Yes ,please.”或“Yes, I would love/like to .”（I would 可縮寫為I ’d）;否定回答常用“No, thanks.”。

對于“Do you like…？”的回答，肯定回答用“Yes ,I do”;否定回答用“No, I don’t.”

8. Look at my family photo.看我的全家福。

辨析：look, look at ,see

look 意為“看”，是不及物動詞。

如：Look, some boys are playing games.看，一些男孩在做游戲。

look at 意為“看……”，是及物動詞短語，強調(diào)看的過程。如：Let me look at your new watch.讓我看看你的新表。

see 意為“看見”，強調(diào)看的結(jié)果。如：Did you see my watch? I can’t find it.你看見我的手表了嗎？我找不到它了。

13. 私人書信的開頭和結(jié)尾語

私人書信的開頭用如下句子：How is everything?一切都好嗎？I hope everything is all right.我希望（你）一切都好。How are you?你好嗎？How are you getting along these days? I miss you very much.你近來過得如何？我十分想念你。Thank you for writing to me .謝謝你給我寫信。

英語書信結(jié)尾常常寫一些祝愿、問候他人、盼回信等等話語。常用的語句有：With best wishes.致以良好的祝愿。Please write to me as soon as possible.請盡快寫給我寫信。Please write to me when you have time.有時間給我寫信。I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.盼望早日收到你的信。
