I. 一般過去時的概念

　　一般過去時表示過去某個時間發生的動作或存在的狀態。常和表示過去的時間狀語連用。如：last year, yesterday等； 也可表示過去經常反復發生的動作，常和often, always等頻率副詞連用。

　　例如：

　　①I saw him in the street yesterday. 昨天我在街上看見他了。

　　②Li Mei always went to school on foot last year. 去年李梅總是步行上學。

II. 一般過去時的構成

　　我們主要來學習謂語動詞為實義動詞的一般過去時的構成。

　　動詞過去式的構成：

　　(1)規則動詞過去式的構成有四條規則：

　　①一般在動詞原形末尾直接加上-ed。如：look-looked。

　　②以不發音的字母e結尾的動詞，去e再加-ed。如：live-lived。

　　③末尾只有一個輔音字母的重讀閉音節，先雙寫這個輔音字母，再加-ed。如：stop-stopped。

　　④末尾是輔音字母+y結尾的動詞，先變y為i，然后再加-ed。如：study-studied。

　　(2)不規則動詞的過去式需特殊記憶。如：am(is)-was, are-were, go-went, come-came, take-took, have (has)-had等。

III. 一般過去時的幾種句型

　　肯定句結構為：主語+動詞的過去式+其它。如：He went to the toy store yesterday. 他昨天去玩具店了。

　　否定句結構為：主語+did not (didn't)+動詞原形+其它。如：He didn't go to the toy store yesterday. 他昨天沒去玩具店。

　　一般過去時的一般疑問句的構成：

　　Did+主語＋動詞原形＋其它？如：

　　1) -Did you go to Beijing last week?

　　 -Yes, we did. (No, we didn't.)

　　2) -Did you meet the businessman before?

　　 -No, I didn't. (Yes, I did.)

　　一般過去時的特殊疑問句的構成：

　　疑問詞＋did+主語＋動詞原形＋其它？如：

　　1) -What did you do last night?

　　 -I did my homework.

　　2) -Where did you go last week?

-I went to Shanghai with my parents.

一般過去時的用法

　 ①一般過去時的基本用法

　★表示過去某個特定時間發生的動作或存在的狀態。

　　He suddenly fell ill yesterday.

昨天他突然生病了。

　　The engine stopped because the fuel was used up.

　　發動機因燃料用光而停機了。

　★表示過去經常發生的動作或存在的狀態。

　　I wrote home once a week at college.

　　我上大學時每周給家里寫一封信。

　　He was already in the habit of reading widely in his boyhood.

　　他童年時就養成了廣泛閱讀的習慣。

　 表示過去的習慣性動作，除了用過去時外，還可以用used to或would來表示。

　 She used to study late into the night when she was in Senior Three.

　 她上高三時經常學習到深夜。

　 He would sit for hours doing nothing.

　 過去他常常一坐幾個鐘頭什么事也不做。

　★表示過去連續發生的一系列動作。

　　She entered the room, picked up a magazine and looked through it carefully.

　　她走進房間，拿起一本雜志，認真地翻閱了起來。

　　The students go up early in the morning, did morning exercises and then read English aloud in the open air.

　　學生們很早起床，做早操，然后在室外朗讀英語。

　★在時間、條件狀語從句中表示過去將要發生的動作。

　　We would not leave until the teacher came back.

　　老師回來我們才會離開。

　　She told me she would not go if it rained the next day.

　　她告訴我如果第二天下雨的話，她就不去了。

　 ②一般過去時的特殊用法

★在虛擬語氣中表示現在或將來時間的動作或狀態。

　　It's time we went.

　　該是我們走的時候了。

　　I wish I were twenty years younger.

　　但愿我年輕20歲。

　　I would rather you didn't do anything for the time being.

　　我寧愿你暫時先不要采取什么措施。

　★在口語中，一般過去時往往顯示委婉客氣。

　　I wondered if you could give me a hand.

　　我想請你幫個忙。

　　Might I come and see you tonight?

　　我想今晚來看你，好嗎？

　　一般過去時口訣

　　一般過去時并不難，表示過去動作、狀態記心間。

　　動詞要用過去式，時間狀語句末站。

　　否定句很簡單，didn't 站在動詞原形前，其它部分不要變。

　　一般疑問句也好變，did放在句子前，主語、動詞原形、其它部分依次站。

　　特殊疑問句也簡單，疑問詞加一般疑問句記心間。

　　最后一條請注意，動詞過去式要牢記。

　　小朋友們口訣記，學會一般過去時沒問題。
