表示“用光，用盡”的還有：use up give out
All the money is used up.
The fuel gave out.
顯然，use up, run out of 是及物性動詞詞組；run out, give out 為不及物動詞詞組。

quantities of表示 “大量的”，修飾可數名詞，也可修飾不可數名詞，謂語動詞均用復數形式。A quantity of 表示“大量的”，修飾可數名詞，也可修飾不可數名詞，謂語動詞均用單數形式。
There were quantities of apples in the basket and there was a quantity of milk in the bucket.(圓桶)

Result from 由――造成。因――而產生His success results from working hard.
