完全倒裝：

1.用于There be 句型和here,there,out,in,down,then,now,off,away,

+不及物動詞＋主語（代詞作主語時除外）的句型中。

2.表語用句首時要倒裝，其結構為：

(1)表語＋連系動詞＋主語

Present at the meeting were Professor Smith and many other

Guests.

(2)過去分詞＋連系動詞＋主語

Gone are the days when they could do what they liked to the

Chinese people.

(3)介詞短語＋be(lie/live/stand)等＋主語

South of the city lies a big steel factory.

In the forest lives a tiger.

Under the tall tree stands an old man, who is Jim’s grandfather.

3.帶有直接引語的句子位于引語后面或中間時，如

“Don’t make noise,please!” said the man.

比較：“Don’t make noise,please” he said.

4.為了保持句子平衡或為了強調表語或狀語可倒裝。

They arrived at a farmhouse, in front of which sat an old farmer.

Inside the pyramids are the burial rooms for the kings and queens.

部分倒裝：

1.用于never,hardly,seldom,scarcely,little,not until, at no time, rarely,

in no way,by no means 等含有否定意義的詞的開頭,引起部分倒裝。

Not a word did he say at the meeting.

Never have I been to Beijing.

2.用于only 所修飾的副詞、介詞短語或狀語從句開頭時，引起主句

倒裝。（但only 修飾主語時不倒裝：如：Only Mr Smith can do it.)

Only in this way can we learn English well.

Only when the war was over in 1981 was he able to get happily back

to work.

3.用于由so,nor ,neither引起的表前者的情況也適合后者時，引起

倒裝。如：－－I like swimming. --So do I.

--I didn’t pass the final examination. -- Nor/Neither did I.

試比較：--He is an American boy. --So he is.

4.由并列連詞not only…but also, neither…nor連接的句子，

not only, neither放在句首時，引起部分倒裝。

Not only does he write the words to the songs,but he also composes

the music.

5.用于由從屬連詞no sooner…than, scarcely…when/before, hardly…

when表示“一…就…”的概念，當no sooner, scarcely,或hardly置于

句首時，引起倒裝。

Scarcely had I got home when it started to snow.

6.so …that的句型，如果so…提到句首，則構成部分倒裝。

So loudly did he speak that people in the next room could hear him.

7.虛擬條件句有were,should,had 時，可將基提到句首，if 省略，

即構成倒裝虛擬條件句。

Were I you,I would accept their invitation.

8.用于“形容詞（副詞，名詞，動詞）＋as(或though)”引導的讓步

狀語從句中，但主謂不倒裝。如：

Pretty as she is, she is not clever.

Try as he would, he might fail again.

Much as he likes it, he won’t buy it.

如果從句中的表語是名詞，其名詞前不加任何冠詞。

如: Child as he was, he had to make a living.
